Following a spiritual experience, Peter Quill begins to have dreams that come true. When he correctly predicts a major event in front of the church, he is heralded as a modern day prophet. It isn’t until his dreams challenge the biases of people in the community that he comes under attack, discovering what it means to truly be a prophet of God.

This book, to me, is a must read for all Christians (and non-Christian alike). It focuses on how someone who may be a prophet of God is, more often than not, rejected by his own family, friends & neighbors - while being accepted by those who know nothing at all about him. We do have to be careful not to accept each person claiming to be a spokesman of God, but if their predictions/prophecies come true (and are in line with God's Word) we need to at least give them a second look. While many such people have no merit whatsoever, we may be surprised by the ones whom are least likely to pass the scrutiny of the majority. God uses who He wants to fulfill His purpose, so be very careful before brushing off those who are sent to spread His Word. You may be speaking to a modern-day prophet of God, and you may be entertaining angels unaware.Hometown ProphetProduct details

Hometown Prophet Jeff Fulmer 9781463632311 Books Reviews
Some of the behavior and language from people professing to be Christians was totally inappropriate, very disappointed in this book and would not reccomend it.
There is never a dull moment as you follow this 'prophet' through his many trials, insights, and doubts. For a good quick read grab a copy and settle into a transparent look at what it must have been like for Biblical prophets.
One might expect a prophet to be someone closely connected with a particular church or set of beliefs. This story reflects a different connection with the gift of prophesy. An unlikely young man, skeptical, uncertain and depressed in his own life situation, chooses prayer as the last resort and begins to experience a series of prophetic dreams. The reactions of his mother, friends, the media and his new church connections take him through a whole gamut of emotions. Watching his "gift" evolve is compelling. You find yourself cheering for this unlikely hero whom God has chosen.
I downloaded this book to my just before heading off on vacation. It appeared to be an interesting read, and I was not disappointed. It definitely held my attention from the beginning to the very end. I was thrilled to read true Christian fiction that finally was realistic and not sappy. It was challenging and inspiring. I hope and pray that Jeffrey Fulmer continues to write more stories of this genre.
Although I was raised in a mainstream church, while in college, I joined the ranks of the born again, evangelical, fundamentalists. I even became a Republican (much to the horror of my liberal, Methodist minister grandfather). After about 15 years of this type of indoctrination, I left an Easter service in tears, realizing that what I was being fed was destroying my spirit, rather than lifting it. It took some time, but I recovered from being "born again." I did a thorough analysis of my heart, mind and belief system and discovered I was truly a devout and sensible Christian who is also a very independent thinker, with a passion for social justice for all people. I believe this is what Jesus expects of me, too.
This was an incredible book. I know it is a work of fiction, but it felt real to me. This book really spoke to my heart. God calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves. How many of us our actually doing this! As a Christian though, I can't agree with the desire of premarital sex. That is the only thing that I don't like about this book. This is a great book to read!
I may be too conservative but the Sunday Services seemed Pentecostal a little too liberal for me. That being said I strongly believe God can use anyone He chooses to speak through!
So easy to read and follow. Kept me coming back to finish it. Though many personalities introduced the story stayed true to the main character.
I would like to see a sequel.
